May 25, 2010: We announced that we've proposed to retain the threatened Endangered Species Act status of Oregon coast coho (OCC), and requested public review and comment. The comment period closed July 26, 2010. See the Federal Register notice below, or contact Eric Murray, 503-231-2378, for more information.

July 29, 2009:  We announced that we're reopening the comment period on the Endangered Species Act status review for Oregon coast coho. We received requests for an extension of the public comment period. In response we reopened the comment period until Aug. 21, 2009.

Apr. 28, 2009:  We announced that we're initiating an Endangered Species Act status review for Oregon coast coho. The most recent review, which resulted in the ESU's 2008 listing, below, was done quickly to meet a court-ordered deadline. This new review will provide time to be more deliberative. We're soliciting information on the population structure, status and trends, and limiting factors and threats of this coho salmon ESU, to ensure that the status review is complete and based upon the best available scientific and commercial information. The comment period closed Aug. 21, 2009.

Feb. 4, 2008:  We announced that we're listing the Oregon coast coho salmon evolutionarily significant unit (ESU) as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. This action includes designation of critical habitat and adoption of ESA protective regulations (4(d) rule). All documents listed below are in PDF format.
