ESA LISTING STATUS: Listing as threatened announced on May 7 and published on May 11, 2007. NOAA Fisheries issued results of a five-year review on Aug. 15, 2011 (PDF 176KB), and concluded that this species should remain listed as threatened.
DESCRIPTION: The DPS includes all naturally spawned anadromous winter-run and summer-run O. mykiss (steelhead) populations, in streams in the river basins of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Puget Sound, and Hood Canal, Washington, bounded to the west by the Elwha River (inclusive) and to the north by the Nooksack River and Dakota Creek (inclusive), as well as the Green River natural and Hamma Hamma winter-run steelhead hatchery stocks.
CRITICAL HABITAT STATUS: Under development.
PROTECTIVE REGULATIONS: Issued on Sept. 25, 2008.
