NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service - Northwest Region

Commercial Fishing Statistics

For inseason management and for analysis of fishery regulations and their impacts, the Northwest Region relies on several of the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission'sExternal Non-Government Link state-based data systems. These include PacFINExternal Non-Government Link (commercial), RecFINglobe-sm(recreational) and EFINExternal Non-Government Link (economic). The regional office also makes use of the Northwest Fisheries Science Center's West Coast Groundfish Observer Data (commercial).

For understanding market trends, the Northwest Region often uses U.S. Foreign Trade Data (U.S. imports and exports of fishery products) and information developed by other NOAA Fisheries Service regions and its Office of Science and Technology (Japanese statistics developed by the Southwest Region, Fishery Market News). The regional office also relies on the Pacific Fishery Management Council'sExternal Non-Government Link GroundfishExternal Non-Government Link and SalmonExternal Non-Government Link Stock Assessment and Evaluation (SAFE) documents. Northwest Region permit data is used for many analyses.
