1999 Puget Sound Marine Fishes ESA Petition
NOAA Fisheries Service received a petition in February 1999 to list 18 species of Puget Sound marine fish under the Endangered Species Act. The agency said at the time that seven of the 18 populations merited further consideration. After additional study, the Northwest Region determined that those seven species were "not warranted" for ESA listing.
