The Conservation Branch is charged with developing and implementing the Snake River Basin Adjudication ESA Section 6 agreement and the Snake River Recovery Plan. Those efforts involve the full geographic range of salmon and steelhead in Idaho. The Snake River Basin Adjudication ESA section 6 agreement with the State of Idaho is designed to improve state and private forestry and irrigation practices to conserve listed salmon and steelhead. The agreement arose as part of a settlement of the Snake River Basin Adjudication legal challenge involving the Nez Perce Tribe and State of Idaho. The team continues to provide technical assistance with consultations on water diversions statewide. This team is also coordinating with various groups to develop Recovery Plans for Snake River salmon and steelhead.
