Habitat Conservation Plans (HCPs) under Development

Portland Water Bureau Bull Run Water Supply

Mar. 21, 2008: NOAA Fisheries Service announced availability of a draft ESA habitat conservation plan and environmental impact statement for the Bull Run Water Supply, and requested public review and comment on it. The Bull Run Water Supply HCP is a 50-year plan to protect and improve aquatic habitat, while continuing to mange the watershed as a water supply for the City of Portland, Ore. NOAA will consider and address all substantive comments received by 5 p.m. (PDT) on May 27, 2008. You may submit comments by e-mail. Broughton Land Company HCP

Mar. 5, 2008:  Fisheries Northwest Region and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service announced availability of a combined draft environmental assessment/ESA habitat conservation plan for Broughton Land Company, and requested public review and comment on it. The draft EA/HCP addresses the proposed issuance of incidental take permits by the two services to Broughton for land management activities in Columbia County, Wash., that are identified in the HCP portion of the draft document. Species potentially affected are Snake River spring/summer Chinook, Snake River fall Chinook, middle Columbia River steelhead and Snake River steelhead

Washington Dept. of Natural Resources Geoduck HCP

Sept. 17, 2007: NOAA Fisheries Service published a request for comments on a proposed ESA habitat conservation plan and incidental take permit application from the state of Washington's Department of Natural Resources. The requested 50-year permit would authorize the incidental take of covered species associated with management of the state’s commercial geoduck fishery in Puget Sound and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
