Hatchery & Genetic Management Plans under Review

July 22, 2011:  NOAA Fisheries has received two applications for Endangered Species Act (ESA) direct take permits, in the form of hatchery and genetic management plans (HGMPs), and requested public review and comment on them. The species involved is naturally produced and artificially propagated Snake River fall-run Chinook, listed as threatened under the ESA. One application is from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) and one from the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) on behalf of the Nez Perce Tribe. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is a co-applicant in the Washington HGMP. These proposed permits would expire in 2018. The comment period closed Aug. 22, 2011. Mar. 24, 2010:  NOAA Fisheries has received four applications for Endangered Species Act (ESA) direct take permits, in the form of hatchery and genetic management plans (HGMPs), and requested public review and comment on them. Two applications are from Public Utility District (PUD) No. 1 of Chelan County and two are from Public Utility District No. 2 of Grant County. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is a co-permit applicant in each of these HGMPs. The duration of each of the proposed permits is 10 years.
